It is with great humility and honor that La Porra de Mexico will showcase the El Paso Locomotive’s supporters group’s (@8thNotchEP) tifo #ElPasoStrong tonight at the Mexico v. Argentina friendly match in San Antonio.
For those unaware, on August 3, 2019, the city of El Paso was forever changed when an individual murdered 22 residents and injured many more. The shooting was a tragic event that has inevitably created a hard line in the history of El Paso. There is the history of El Paso before the shooting and the history of El Paso after the shooting.
However, the tifo is not a story about the shooting. Its a story about the spirit of those victims being reflected in the entire community of El Paso. Its a spirit of love and perseverance. Its a spirit that we wished to highlight as we let our El Paso brothers and sisters know that they are not forgotten and that we are with them still.
PVA has an El Paso chapter, led by our Capi Abraham. Immediately after the shooting, PVA El Paso was in the middle of all the helping and healing. We are forever humbled to know them, be associated with them, and to call them our friends and our #PVAFamilia.
To our friends at @8thNotchEP. We continue to hold you and your community in our thoughts and prayers. Soccer unites. Thank you for trusting us with such a cherished piece of your history. We are honored and humbled by your strength.
