Today Juan Carlos Osorio, head coach of the Mexico National Team, called on 28 players as a preliminary roster for the 2018 Russian World Cup. The roster will be narrowed to 23 before the World Cup, no date has been given.
The roster includes almost all the players that Osorio has consistently called upon during his tenure. There were no real surprises in the squad considering Osorio has been loyal to his base, and it appears that his base has been loyal to him. Most notably after the 0-7 loss to Chile in the Copa America.
Probably the most talked about players absent from this call up are El Gallito Vazquez, who is in another Liga MX final, and Rodolfo Pizarro. The press and many fans are wondering why these two players were absent and whether or not they deserve a shot to be in the 28 man roster. What do you think? Comment below!
Its important to note that at this time Salcedo, Guardado, Aruajo, Gio and Jona Dos Santos are all injured and not entirely likely to be healthy by the World Cup. This is surely one of the reasons why Osorio named 28 players rather than 23 as he had originally planned.
