Mexico Kicks Off World Cup Qualifying in June 2021

Its official! CONCACAF released the qualification schedule for Qatar today and our Seleccion Mexicana begins its’ road to the World Cup in June of 2021. The Tricolor will host Jamaica on June 1, 2021, at the Estadio Azteca.

The traditional “HEX” will now be an eight team round robin tournament that will stretch into March 2022. Remember, the 2022 World Cup begins in November and will not be a traditional summer World Cup. There are still several teams yet to be confirmed for the final round so while Mexico has a full schedule it does not have all its’ opponents.

What is confirmed are the two “clasico” matches against the US Men’s National Team. El Tri will travel to the US in October 2021 and then host the USMNT in January of 2022. The venues are not confirmed but the USMNT still lists Columbus, Ohio, as the stadium that will host the home USMNT match.

CONCACAF will also host the 2021 Gold Cup in the next summer window. There will be plenty of games over the next year.

Pancho Villa’s Army is committed to supporting the Mexican National Team through qualification. We are identifying several games to travel to and cheer on our Seleccion to qualification. Please stay tuned as we make preparations.
